Getting Started with Trustd: A Guide for Drivers
This guide is for employee and subcontractor drivers who have been invited to become Trustd verified by their fleet manager through Driver Management.
What's the difference between an employee and a subcontractor? In the UK, an employee works fixed hours under your direction, uses your equipment, and is taxed through PAYE. A subcontractor is self-employed, works to deliver a specific service, uses their own equipment, and manages their own tax and National Insurance.
Creating your Trustd account
Check your email for an invitation from your fleet manager and click the link to create your profile. You will be asked to confirm your personal details and set a password.
You will then receive a second email prompting you to log in to Trustd. Follow the link in that email to begin building your profile, where you will be guided through providing information and uploading your documents.
What documents do I need?
Subcontractor drivers
- Identity — A copy of your driving licence and passport (both must be clear, full scanned copies)
- Vehicle information — Your vehicle registration number and images of your vehicle
- Insurance — Vehicle Insurance Certificate/Schedule and Goods in Transit Insurance Certificate/Schedule
- Proof of trading address
- Bank details — Provided securely for receiving payments
Employee drivers
- Identity — A copy of your driving licence and passport (both must be clear, full scanned copies)
Connecting your profile to your fleet
Once your profile is complete, you will be guided to connect it to your fleet. Go to the Connections tab in Trustd and approve the connection request.
If you are a subcontractor working with multiple fleets, you will need to approve each connection separately.
Profile review and verification
Once connected, your fleet manager will review your information and documents. If everything is in order, they will attest your profile, confirming you as a Trustd verified driver within their fleet.
