What does European access allow me to do?
European access on the TEG platform allows you to post or quote on loads that:
- Start in the UK and end in Europe
- Start in Europe and end in the UK
- Start and end in Europe.

What documentation do I need to provide to get European access?
To add European access to your subscription, you’ll need to provide TEG with some additional documents, listed below.
- Operator’s Licence: You'll need a standard international goods vehicle operator’s licence to work in Europe. Your business will need to employ a Transport Manager to obtain this licence. Learn more.
- Goods in Transit Insurance: The level of Goods in Transit insurance that you select to cover your business must include cover under ‘CMR conditions’. The UN CMR convention governs the movement of all goods internationally by road and GIT compliance with this convention is a requirement of working in the European Union. Learn more.
As a European company operating in the UK, are there any specific documents required?
To work in the UK as a European company, you are required to hold a valid European Community Licence.

How do I find European jobs on the Exchange?
After you log onto the Exchange, click on Euro in Search Loads sidebar menu. All live European jobs available for quotes will be displayed. You can select to see these jobs in List View or on our Interactive Freight Radar Map.
How do I post European loads on the Exchange?
Posting Import/Export or European loads on the Exchange is exactly the same as posting a UK load; add your European addresses to the Pickup Details and Delivery Details sections (making sure to select the correct country) in the Post Load or Book Direct forms, complete the rest of the details, and click Post Load/Send Confirmation.
My company is based in the UK, but would like to complete jobs that start and end in Europe; is that allowed?
As a UK based company operating in Europe, you are permitted to complete 2 jobs in the region within 7 days of arrival before returning to the UK.
One of these jobs can be a ‘cabotage’ job, starting and finishing in the destination country of the journey from the UK. The other job is permitted to be a ‘cross-trade’ job, starting in the destination country of the journey from the UK and finishing in another European country. After completing these two jobs, you must return the UK.
My company is based in Europe, but would like to complete jobs that start and end in the UK; is that allowed?
As a Europe based company operating in the UK, you are permitted to complete 2 ‘Cabotage’ jobs within 7 days in the UK before leaving the country. To complete a cabotage job, you must arrive in the UK laden with goods. You may depart the UK either laden or unladen.
Government requirements for working in Europe
It is your responsibility to ensure you also meet the government requirements to operate in Europe. Full advice on document requirements for operating in Europe is included in the gov.uk links in the resources section below. Some examples of additional documentation include:
- UK Licence for the Community: To carry out jobs for hire and reward in the European Union (including cabotage and cross-trade) you need to have a valid UK Licence for the Community. These can be obtained from the DVSA.
- CMR consignment note: This is a standard contract used to confirm that a courier or haulier has received goods from a supplier and has a contract to carry them with that supplier. This is load specific.
- Customs documentation: In order to import goods into, or export goods out of the United Kingdom you will need to follow the correct customs procedures at your point of departure from Country A and your point of entry into Country B.
